Event Series
TDF regularly develops concepts for and organizes series of events on women’s rights topics worldwide, usually in close cooperation with representatives of our partner organizations. These event series take place across Germany in both in-person and digital formats. Most events are open to the public, while some are aimed at professional audiences, such as doctors or social workers. Further, we frequently collaborate with schools and youth facilities. In addition to lectures, panel discussions and workshops, we also like to resort to more unconventional formats such as podcasts, film screenings and quizzes.
The TDF event series make the women’s rights topics covered tangible using concrete examples from specific countries, always including Germany. Participants can thus relate the topic to their own life contexts. Another aim is to highlight opportunities for own engagement in the field of development policy and to think ahead together.
Topics and countries on which TDF has already held series of events include, among others, the human right of women and girls to education in Afghanistan and Germany, domestic and sexualized violence in Nicaragua and Germany as well as early and forced marriage in Turkey and Germany.
In 2006, 2014 and most recently in 2021, TDF organized series of events on FGM/C in Burkina Faso and Germany. In 2021, events included a workshop for multipliers working with boys and men, school workshops throughout Germany, which resulted in a jointly developed comic about FGM/C, a public panel discussion followed by a screening of the film “In Search” about FGM/C by Beryl Magoko, and a medical symposium.
